NDIS Cleaning and Household Tasks

In your plan: Assistance with daily life Core supports

NDIS cleaning is help with the jobs around the house that your disability makes hard: the bathroom, the floors, the washing, the sheets. Our support workers do it with you or for you, in homes across Newcastle and Lake Macquarie, from our base in Wallsend.

NDIS Cleaning and Household Tasks in full

A clean bathroom and a stack of fresh sheets sound small until they are out of reach. NDIS cleaning covers the household jobs your disability makes hard or unsafe, so the energy you have goes on the things you want to do. We are a registered provider in Wallsend, and our support workers do this work in homes across Newcastle and Lake Macquarie.

What NDIS cleaning covers

Household tasks are part of the plan category called "Assistance with daily life", the same category as personal care. That is worth knowing, because it means one team can often help with both, from one budget.

A household tasks shift usually covers:

  • the bathroom and toilet, including the shower screen and floor
  • the kitchen: benches, stovetop, dishes, the fridge when it needs it
  • vacuuming and mopping
  • a load of washing, hung out or put through the dryer, then folded
  • changing the bed and washing the linen
  • bins out on the right night, and light yard tidying

NDIS household tasks, done with you or for you

Some people want the job done while they rest. Others want to do the parts they can and have help with the rest, such as wiping the benches while the support worker does the floor. Both are fine. You say how involved you want to be, and it can change from week to week.

An afternoon in Glendale

A participant in Glendale has a two-hour visit every Thursday at 1pm. He strips the bed while his support worker starts the bathroom. They put the sheets on to wash, and he sorts the recycling while the floors get mopped. The washing goes on the line before 3pm. A fortnightly visit adds the oven and the fridge. He picked Thursday because his sister visits on Fridays.

Will my plan pay for cleaning?

This is the honest part. NDIS funding pays for supports related to your disability and in line with your plan. Cleaning is an example the NDIS gives for Assistance with daily life, but each plan is different. We cannot promise that any plan will fund it.

What we do is check with you before we quote. We look at what your plan says about core supports, how your funding is managed, and how many hours you have in mind. If it looks like your plan won't cover what you want, we tell you up front, before anything is booked.

Your plan can be managed by the NDIA, a plan manager or yourself; we work with all three. If you would like help with personal care as well, see our page on assistance with daily life at home.

The same workers in your home each week

Letting someone into your home is a matter of trust. Two or three support workers make up your team, and they learn where things go, which products you like, and what the cat is allowed to do. We keep the team the same wherever we can, and you can ask for a change at any time without giving a reason.

Each of our workers has a current NDIS Worker Screening Check and is trained in first aid and CPR. We visit across Lake Macquarie suburbs such as Glendale, Cardiff and Toronto, as well as Newcastle suburbs like Wallsend and Jesmond.

What NDIS cleaning costs

Our prices follow the NDIS Pricing Schedule 2026-27 and never go above the price limits. You get a written quote and a service agreement before anything starts.

How to book household tasks

We reply within 2 business days and set up a free meet-and-greet in your home, usually within the week. That visit is where we see the house, agree the jobs and pick a regular day. Most first shifts start 2 to 3 weeks after first contact, and our capacity line shows what's open right now.

Start with the steps for families and participants, or if you are a support coordinator, use the coordinator referral form.

They asked what she wanted to do herself and left that to her. The worker does the floors and the sheets, and they do the dishes together.

Does the NDIS pay for cleaning?

It can, when your plan includes help with household tasks. The NDIS lists cleaning as an example of what Assistance with daily life funding can pay a support worker for. NDIS funding can only be used for supports related to your disability and in line with your plan, so it depends on your plan. We check it with you before we quote.

What household tasks can an NDIS support worker do?

Our support workers clean bathrooms, kitchens and floors, do the washing, change and wash bed linen, do the dishes and tidy up. They can also take the bins out and do light yard tidying such as sweeping paths and pulling a few weeds. Bigger outdoor jobs like mowing or tree work are outside what we offer.

Do I have to be home when the support worker cleans?

Most people are home, and many like to do part of the work together. If you would rather be out, we can agree that in writing first, including how keys or access are handled. Nothing changes until you have said yes.

Do NDIS cleaners bring their own cleaning products?

Our support workers use the products and equipment you already have, so you always know what is being used in your home. If something runs out or is unsafe to use, they will tell you. If you have allergies or a product you want avoided, put it in your service agreement.

Can an NDIS support worker mow my lawn?

We do light yard tidying only: sweeping, picking up leaves, weeding pots and garden edges, and bins. We do not mow lawns or bring garden machinery. If you need mowing, ask your support coordinator or plan manager about a provider that does garden maintenance.

Is NDIS cleaning core supports or capacity building?

Household tasks sit under Assistance with daily life, which is part of your core supports budget. Core funding is flexible within that budget, in line with your plan. Capacity building funding is different: it is stated, and it is for building skills rather than doing tasks for you.
